Rap Daily: A police officer in Georgia has been fired for appearing in a recent rap video by rapper Killer Mike.
Officer Floyd Sawyer admitted to being featured in the video, in which he dons a ski mask while sitting in his official squad car with the lights flashing.
When Sawyer was questioned by his immediate superiors, he allegedly lied to investigators and claimed he was not in the video.
Officer Sawyer attempted to appeal the decision, but several other factors resulted in his ultimate dismissal.
According to the Savannah Morning News, Officer Sawyer had previously been suspended without pay for appearing in federal court in uniform, unauthorized, to testify for his friend in an unrelated case.
Before he became a police officer, Officer Sawyer was arrested for account fraud, contempt of court, carrying a concealed weapon and other charges.
Officer Sawyer now faces federal charges amidst claims that he took money from drug buglers and then sold drugs himself.
Officer Sawyer was arrested earlier this week, after federal authorities claimed he was involved in a drug trafficking/extortion scheme while in uniform.
Sawyer and another associate worked security for a club in Savannah, where they are accused of robbing drug dealers for their drugs and cash and committing other crimes.
