Former Murder Inc. rapper Ja Rule will learn his fate today (February 9th), when he is officially sentenced to prison for possessing a handgun in July of 2007.
Ja rule born Jeffrey Atkins, is scheduled to appear in court today to be sentenced, after he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in December of 2010.
Today, the rapper will learn when he must surrender to authorities to begin serving a two-year sentence, which will sideline his career as he prepares to release his new album The Renaissance Project.

In January, Ja, 34, said that his album The Renaissance Project, would be released before he starts his prison sentence.
"Damn, some of u act like 18 months is forever," Ja Rule tweeted shortly after learning of his prison term. "It aint Hard to tell who the snitches are!!!…Renaissance Project will be dropping before I go in."

Ja Rule is going to wait a bit longer before learning when he'll start his prison term in a New York gun case.
Prosecutors said Wednesday that changes are needed in a presentencing report for the platinum-selling rapper and actor.
He's now due back March 9 to cement a sentencing date.
Ja Rule pleaded guilty in December to attempted weapon possession. The 34-year-old performer's plea deal calls for a two-year prison term.
Police said they found a loaded gun in a rear door of his luxury sportscar when it was stopped for speeding after a July 2007 concert.
